‘Politics and Promises, Another Murder’ (A Sheridan Hendley Mystery, Book 11 is illustrative of author Christa Nardi’s penchant for writing realistic crime fiction. Pivoting around the murder of a flip-flopping and womanizing senator at an engagement party teeming with guests, amateur sleuth/psychologist Sheridan Hendley becomes entangled in sorting out a plethora of suspects via photos and videography.

True to life, the author’s plausible progression of Book 11 incorporates honest-to-goodness attentiveness to crime-solving details without resorting to melodrama. On that note, Ms. Nardi keeps the reader guessing the murderer’s identity, given the number of suspects who had motive.

She portrays Sheridan and Brett, her detective husband as relatable folks by including their daily minutiae of life, and how they’re coping with their daughter, Maddie, going away to college. Of course, it’s always a reader’s joy to get a gander of what’s happening at Pets & Paws where Sheridan volunteers on weekends, in this highly recommended true -to-life crime fiction.
