Author Terry Kerr’s formidable storytelling prowess is at the forefront in ‘Stay My Hand,’ Psychological Horror at its finest. As soon as deceased eight-year-old Bridget Feeney reappears forty years later, without aging a day, the reader becomes entwined with those who are in her inner circle: Tony Feeney, Sabrina Newman, Father Hennessey, and Lisa Parkinson.
Discomforting and unsettling, the reader is on pins and needles, on the fence straddling good and evil, unsure of our footing as the flawed characters in Bridget’s orb who suffer for it.
Of apocalyptic portents, the author’s disarming narrative and ominous voice of reason pack a literary wallop that smacks the reader in the jaw. As Kerr put it, “An idiot is someone who sees the truth, but ignores it.”
