Author Jeffery Martin Botzenhart’s novella, ‘Lone Star State,’ unfolds with a heart the size of Texas. His life-like characters carry baggage from their past: Luke Granger; Shepherd Sumner and his wife, Loretta, along with Michael, the young man they call their son.

When Shepherd’s best friend Luke asks him to come back to Buffalo Gap, Texas to be the best man at his wedding to Trisha, a gal from Shepherd’s toxic past, he grins and bears it with Loretta and Michael in tow.

With plenty of trauma and drama stirred in the main plot and subplots, neither Shepherd and his brood, nor the reader, expect what is about to take place inside the church on the day of a wedding.

This heartfelt story abounds with genuineness and unforeseen developments which keep the reader fully engaged.
