A Cautionary Sci-Fi Tale

Light years ahead of ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers’ and ‘The Twilight Zone’ episode, “To Serve Man,” author J.S. Frankel’s technologically-advanced ‘Bureaucrazy’ taps into universal societal truths during the Gurindians’ “blueblood” alien infiltration:

Hive-mind mentality
Look-the-other-way mindset

Frankel steps it up with humaneness exemplified by protagonists, Marlon Dempster and Harkin Reynolds. The two happen to be employed by the Valan Corporation, a front for the distribution of Yaluten, fuel for the Gurindians’ galactic drug trade. Adversarial at first, they strike up a romance during their quest to stand up for what is right despite fears of becoming sacrificial lambs in the process.

Highly recommended, ‘Bureaucrazy’ is injected with realism and danger at every turn. The author never misses a beat in grounding his cautionary sci-fi tale with heart and soul.
