An Encompassing Historical Tribute
Author Toni Kief & Marysville Historical Society have compiled a plethora of stories based on residents buried in Marysville Cemetery located in the state of Washington. Hence, “Every Stone is a Story”.
The book is divided into categories such as Athletes, Business, Creatives, Educators, War Veterans, etc. Each celebrant’s hard work and dedication to the community contributed to the core values and preservation of Marysville’s heritage.
For instance:
Historian, Clara C. Mathias compiled and maintained records of all the obituaries in Snohomish County, dating back to 1953.
James Bedford, one of the town’s founders, is recorded as the first strawberry cultivator before 1910. His achievement helped lay the groundwork for what later became Marysville’s identity as “Strawberry City.”
Other heartwarming and heartrending stories fill the pages of this stone-worthy tribute to those who built and shaped the foundation of Marysville.

Washington State is relatively new. I think reviewing the tombstones in a cemetery in Rhode Island would be much more illuminating. But those obituaries, going back into the 1600s might be rather hard to find.
Finally, on an little island in a small lake surrounding the cemetery in Menomonie, Wisconsin is the grave of a veteran of the Revolutionary War. To think that someone who fought in the war from the colonies lived to end his life in the far Northwestern Territories, is a story in itself.
