No past, present fears, and uncertainties for the future plague Number Eight/Nick Andimer, the teen protagonist in J.S. Frankel’s Sci-Fi Action & Adventure.

Stumbling upon the Oddities, a few individuals who comprise a sideshow circus act because of their unusual abilities, becomes the best thing that could have happened to Nick in the long run of escaping the Facility.

The author’s great showmanship unfolds on every page in the course of authentic characters, action-packed chapters, and dilemmas. My favorite Frankel trait—his uncompromising doses of reality:

For those who don’t fit in society, the world is an imperfect place where ignorance and intolerance overrule the tenets of decency toward those whose peculiarities stand out.

Frankel peppers ‘The Oddities’ with several narrow-minded individuals who bear the brunt of his deprecating jabs.

I highly recommend this story for its selfless characters who exemplify decency despite life’s hard knocks: Nick, Grace, Murray, ST, Carol, Feet, and Lips. They’re a class act created by an author with a flair for great showmanship.
