An Occult Thrill!

A fan of author/poet Beth Hildenbrand’s Occult Horror offerings, ‘Lila, the Shattered Hex,’ is nonstop riveting. Breaking away from tradition and superstitions of her ancestors, Lila Miller is one empowered hex taking care of business: a wild woman in cowboy boots with a cowboy hat wearing half a pound of silver.

Ms. Hildenbrand’s unique blend of storytelling combines her knowledge of religious lore, in conjunction with fleshing interesting characters, and interspersing witty dialogue. This occult thriller perseveres with a list of interrelated murder suspects having motive. As usual, the mysterious ending leaves the reader hankering for more.

A novel penned by a writer of substance, it’s no surprise the figment of her imagination conjured Lila, a free-spirited gal who had my vote of confidence as soon as I met her.

I highly recommend this page-turner which shatters all notions of reader complacency and figuring out whodunit.
