“When Love Hurts,” author Martha Perez’ dark, fictitious exposé of domestic abuse and emotional manipulation, offers the reader an intense glimpse of trauma through the anecdotes shared by her characters.

The author’s note, establishes Ms. Perez’ credibility on the subject based upon having volunteered at a women’s shelter, and her own first-hand knowledge. She elaborates on the types of abuse before turning the story over to her characters:

Tricia Brown, Kelly Madison, and Gabriella Solace represent women who can identify with their experiences, rendering ‘When Love Hurts’ a wake-up call for action.

I highly recommend this read for its intense glimpse into a widespread hidden reality.
