Writing for me is such a pleasure, but at the same time a must thing. I have been doing it for so long thatI couldn't imagine not doing it. I enjoy writing poetry. You can do so much with it. It doesn't have to be just one way in one genre. I can spice it up or keep it down low. Make it short or long. Actually I tend to go a little long in most things that I write. I can't help it!! I like people to read it. Enjoy it. Have fun with it. I do it for them as well as myself. I know that writing is my God given talent. The one thing that is my special thing. But I also can release in it. I expell my deepest desires, fantasies, wishes, longings, regret, fears, and sadness into my words. I always try to make what ever I write mine alone. Everyone experiences a lot of the same hurts and losses and loves, but each is individual. Noone can express me better than I can. My favorite poetry author is Shakespeare. I have his full sonnet. I have taken to writing in the same style that he does. I haven't mastered it yet but it is my goal. One day people will read me and say, WOW. My mom has teased me for years, saying that I'll never be Shakespeare till I'm dead. I respond with, "Not if I can help it".
I was just offered a position in the Long Ridge Writers Group. I had to take an aptitude test and they said that I passed and was offered a one on one instructor. I have already taken Journalism and Short Story Writing, but this is a more intense training. I am debating taking the course though. I don't have the funds to support it. With me not able to work right now it makes it really hard. What a dilima. I am in the mist of editing the book that I am writing for Ellen Bomer right now. It will be with the publisher in no time. Thank goodness. It has been a 6 month project.
