Another quicky about "dark fantasy". 3/26/2011 6:02:46 PM
More about my fantasy efforts. A couple of days ago, I had an entry concerning the fact I had been told my fantasy is "too" dark.
I've had an "interesting" life. I have seen good deeds, been in love and loved back and other higher examples of human behavior.
I also know that all of us live in a world that can be hurtful, nasty, deadly, and, in many cases, where one's own body can turn on you and attack My observations has shown me that Mankind, as advanced as it is, is only one step from cracking it's members over the head with an antelope's thigh-bone...and the thigh-bone it wields now is powerful enough to basically leave an Earth as an inheritance for rats and cockroaches.
So I beg the pardon of all that I probably will not be on Oprah's Must-Read (or whatever it's called) List or gain the adoration of those who love sympathetic, hunky vampires and languid unicorns. Anyone whose actually read my first novel through has found that, even though it was written by a rather-cynical middle-aged man, even amongst the darkness there are rays of light, acts of valiance, redemption, humour and love.
I know I often turn a sanguine eye towards Mankind's (including mine) actions...but it does not mean I am totally without a hope that a "happy ending" is to come.
