About the reactions I've received from my third novel's preview and progress thereof. I'm confused. This is a state I'm kinda accustomed to thanx to the medications I take and the probable brain damage resulting from all those status epilepticus seizures way back in the day.
Apparently, I'm not alone: 3 of the 4 critiques of the "The Dark Ages" preview use that term, though I've averaged 3 out 4 stars. The fourth included the word "cute".
There have been times, as far back as 'Baker's Dozen: a Fantasy Novel" of "using a $100 word where a $10 word would have sufficed". Well, I'm sorry but I know my English pretty well...I guess I flaunt it (a bit). My sentence structure was once called into question but this was a scammer who gave me "review" on the Internet (for a fee! I was led like a lamb to a slaughter, that time...hopefully, I'm wiser now).
A sibling suggested to me that I have to "write for your market". Well, my market is "dark fantasy" and I imagine those readers are as intelligent as fans of "Harry Potter", "Twilight" or "The Lord of the Rings" (believe me, I KNOW I'm not in LotR's league!).
Sales of my 2 novels have been around the 60-70 mark. Mostly, I order some copies and sell them by hand to people who show an interest. Most of the reviews have been positive, with most people liking the second one better. The reason I'm given for this is, when they read "Baker's Dozen 2: Nightshade 1.1", they more fully understand the opening novel to the Saga.
On this site there are links to my first and second book's previews, too. Check them out, leave critiques, good or bad (I'm a big boy). I mean, if people aren't "getting" my writing, I'd be a fool to continue.
Speaking of continuing: I have a refurbished keyboard now, so all that remains is to get over this bloody cold to get working on "The Dark Ages".
