Oh the peace that follows God's gift to humankind. It's found in this place. I'm enjoying an annual vacation in Sun Valley, Idaho with family over the 4th of July. We've done this for years and each time, it's a week of replenshing this spent body and mind I live with.
My brother in law has been reading my novel and is offering to give me a formal review on it. He is brilliant and spends his time reading classics, works of the well-seasoned authors who were born with the gift of storytelling. I am honored he would devote his time to my book. Our discussion brought us to my use of the word "pristine" which I used to describe a cul-de-sac. After Googling the meaning, he showed me the first definition in Miriam's Dictionary was "natural, untouched the way God intended". Ah-haa! (I used the word to mean the second definition).
This word, pristine, has been with me all morning today. I just returned from hiking up to the lift (Sun Valley is a ski resort) and back with my sister and her husband. We passed over a path wide enough to accomodate two feet side-by-side touching at the ankles, no more. The lupines reached my knees, covering the mountainside in lavendar, yellow and green. Snow sat in a mound atop the crevace we hiked and rivulets of water trickled down from the base where it melted. This is refreshing in every sense of the word.
I walked back to my condo, understanding now the true meaning of "pristine", grateful for God's art here on this amazing mountain!
