New Moon on a New Year with Capricorn's strength -
Mixed feelings surface for me each time I witness the transition of a new year. This Friday night at midnight was no exception. My eyes teared and axiety coursed its way through my veins at the same time hope filled my heart and anticipation brought a smile to my lips as I witnessed the death of 2010 at birth of 2011. Immediately, the "Wave Theory" popped into my head, certain this must be the cause. Since that moment at midnight on 1/1/11 (an interesting set of numbers for those of you who ascribe to numerology ), I have researched a little about the present transition of years. Some amazing insight has been given by other bloggers which I would like to share below:
From Hotspot
January is often considered the month for deep reflection. We look back at the year behind us, bemoaning our regrets and celebrating our successes. And then, we look forward to the future year. We make well-meaning resolutions and hope for the best.
So, in this way, we’re all a little bit like Janus, the Roman god for which January is named. Janus is usually depicted with having two heads. that face in opposite directions. One looks back to the year departed, and one looks forward to the new and uncertain year ahead.
the new year started off during the dark of the moon- a time that is best spent turning inward, reflecting, introspecting, processing, releasing and sloughing off the old. technically the new/initiatory energy doesn't commence until a few days after new year's day due to the new moon/solar eclipse occurring on the 4th (pst, the 3rd late night in hawaii). the first few days of 2011 are fertile ground for letting go of the past- but it will take some deep internal processing and facing inner shadows. if you deny them or ignore them you may find that they follow you into 2011 and wreak some havoc this year! it's best to deal with them now
An amazing theme is presenting over and over again as I read about the transition required of us all as we move into 2011. The need to view our lives at this passage of years is prevalent...something we will be asked to do regardless of our desire. The ability to escape the requirement of self-reflection will not escape us and in fact, several authorities have suggested our failure to accept and move through whatever is required of us in facing our own reality at this time will follow us into the next year unless we do so. Sounds daunting. But it makes sense in a "Wave Theory" kind-of way.
One thought that I particularly like is from the blog above: "eclipses are portals that can take us away from the old and catapult us into the new quite quickly and dynamically". The new moon elcipse occurs January 4th (24 hours from the time this blog will post).
My hope for us all is the strength to be able to face our own reality; to look with realism at the relationships and pathway we have trod over the past while, accept it as it is and turn (without judgement) to what awaits us in 2011. Light at candle tomorrow night during the new moon and move joyfully into mindfulness with me.
