Silence on the Bloggin' Trails 6/24/2010 4:06:33 PM
Every once in a while a life comes along that changes your life. Hi All,
The title says it all. I've not been on the bloggin' trails for the last two weeks as it would be most difficult to go alone. You see, that decision that I was grappling over was made. DICEY THE DOG, found her way over the Rainbow Bridge. It still pains me to write about her. She was a much loved dog and is sadly missed.
The trails just don't seem as enticing as when I would take a bounding dog out in all sorts of weather. She was a VERY special dog. For any of you who own pets and have had to make the agonizing choice to let your beloved companion go, you understand.
I've written a poem dedicated to Dicey, hopefully I will get it up in the den soon. If there was EVER an animal that could keep life going it was her. She was the best darn listener in the whole world. The stories I would tell her had her ears perked as she never knew if I'd squeak in the word TREAT. When that word was uttered she was ready to pounce off the couch and come get that little goody.
We exercised together, the funniest time was when she would get up on the manual tread mill and away we would walk. I was carrying all her weight as I made that tread mill go, but her skinny little legs were mighty fast in helping to do her part. She knew there would be a
T R E A T....waiting for her.
There are so many stories like the above. She was a dog with character, wit and true wisdom. she knew how to outsmart one...believe me she did it many times. What a wonderful gift we were blessed to have in our lives.
So, if the bloggin' trails stay quiet awhile don't worry. Just know this here owner is basking in all those wonderful memories. Yes, there is a part of my heart that went with Dicey that day however I must keep going. The cat needs me now more than ever. And he most certainly will get the attention he requires. The poor little fella has lived through so many of his companions leaving this world.
Do enjoy the bloggin' trails, watch out for the bears. Hopefully I will find my way back to the trails. Until then, hug your pets, give them that little extra lovin' today.
