A Practical Use for Poetry!
10/2/2004 8:29:12 AM

This is a copy of a message I just wrote to the Project Sanctuary Players list.
In brief, PS is a game where you construct autogenic platforms and you have extremely intense experiences there, for amusement and to learn things about yourself, about the world.

==========

It just occurred to me that I use poems to "bottle the essence" of a PS experience for future use.

The Solace poem I just posted functions like an immediate doorway to that state of being unconditionally loved, safe and protected from "the storms". All I have to think to myself is "Solace did I seek ..." and the whole thing unfolds into the original state as the poem goes there and I follow along.

Now that's a more recent development and a PRACTICAL USE for poetry - LOL, can you IMAGINE! - that I'd never really considered consciously.

I used to make the poems to just REMEMBER the sanctuary experience, not to tell others really because you just can't, just for me when I need that ENERGY, that STATE.

A personal first aid library of the most highly complex and individually designed psycho-energetic remedies you could want. AKA a poetry collection - LOL.

Which is the exact opposite of Sylvia Plath type "screams" where everything unravels to chaos and death and maggots in the end.

That's a very wonderful thing and I'm glad I noted that this morning, so now I don't have to feel like I'm wasting time when I write poetry anymore!

And it gives me the opportunity and excuse :-) to post another poem.

Remember where this came from?

Cheers and poetic unfoldment spirals

SFxxx :-)

OASIS

Words are to me
as a sword is to the soldier.

I speak and write the days
long campaigns in foreign lands,
an expert with my weapons,
lightly they swirl,
work their magic.

Here, with you,
I would lay down my arms
and sink into the grace
of silence; I would listen
to your voice, your breathing
and the beating
of your heart.

Open wide
I let your sweeps, your shapes
your panther movements
flow inside me,
there to warm and nourish.
fill my hunger,
old and cold.

And finally, I close my eyes
become the desert sands,
await your kiss
unfolding an oasis,
rich with colour,
rich with life.
