But it is here, in my cozy Authors Den that my true self can come raging to life.. It's the angry, political animal in me that finds succor in these pages.
First, let me beam with joy at Carl Bernstein's latest article in Vanity Fair. This lion of journalism puts my politiacal soul at ease. Someone is thinking, someone is writing while they think. You must read this sort of thing when it happens, as it so rarely does:

Now that all that can be said, Bernstein has said for me. I can rave about another set of facts I've researched for you today:
The American Dream- Spoiled!
The annual gap between CEO's and workers is now 431-1, or $11.8 million to $27,460.
If salaries of the average worker had kept up with that of a CEO, he or she would be making $110,136. Had the minimum wage risen at the same pace as CEO compensation, it would stand today at $23.01 an hour.
It is, however, standing where it has since 1997---at $5.15 an hour.
The higher up you go into the top 20% of earners, the more is their share of income appreciated. In fact, the top 1% saw their share of America's income zoom from 9.3% in the last 25 years to 14.3% since Bush & gang hijacked the country.
But they pay more taxes, right? Nope. In fact, 46 of the top 275 largest corporations in the country paid NO FEDERAL INCOME TAX in 2003 at all. Bush has cut taxes for the wealthy, you've no doubt heard. Well, I found out ---that is actually true!
Average aspirations, those guidemarks that the middle-class have forever held as a birthright, are evaporating.. The steady and sure growth of honest compensation for honest work is still-born. But in the comatose households of middle America where is a word of discouragement, much less anger, heard?
The sheep are marching to the slaughter and the shearing causes nary a stir amongst them. Yet, in my view, the minimum wage is punitive, if not downright evil. I've just finished, and you should read:
