Happy Birthday To Me 9/21/2007 8:26:25 PM
I turned 29 today. I'm not quite where I aimed to be at this point in my life but all in all, I can't complain. Well, I'm not published yet but it's not as though I've been submitting material voraciously either. I have 3 beautiful children and a good paying job so I can't complain. That's more than some of the folks I grew up with have achieved in 29 years.
I'm too damn close to thirty, that's for sure. The problem with turning thirty is that I'm female. Men improve with age. Women hit their 30's and go ka-put. It's a downhill slide and it goes fast.
Hell, I started going gray at twenty-four years old (that could have been because at 24 I'd just given birth to my 3rd child within the span of 4 years. That'd turn anyone gray, or at least that's what my daddy said to me when I called him on the phone to whine "I just found 3 gray hairs!" .)
Ah, well. We all must age. I just hope to be published by the time my next birthday rolls around. It'll soften the blow. <-;
