The Novel, The Historian 7/22/2005 2:50:41 PM
Yes, I bought this novel about a week ago. The main reason for my purchase had nothing to do with it being a best seller, but because I heard the Author earned over 2 million dollars on it, and of course—it’s about Drakula. I probably would have bought it anyway just because it’s about Dracula. I read all of the reviews and was ready for it. Yes, I read the first 76 pages, then some here and there in the middle, and tried to read part of the ending. I’m just not into slow paced novels, but I’ve read many in the past and was able to do so by skimming through the slow parts, and eating up the faster sections. What I read I enjoyed but I just couldn’t keep it up.
There was too much skimming, too little fast sections, and I just couldn’t keep up with the pace. Truth is I started getting frustrated, and then I started getting irritated (not with the book but with myself for not having the patience), so, I stopped. It wasn’t worth it. You see, I read mostly for entertainment. And at that point it wasn’t fun anymore. I passed the book to someone I know is very interested in history. I purchased another book with the Historian entitled Empress of Clouds by Diana Hignutt, and this one has gotten me hooked. First chapter flew and I hope to read it some fine day or evening when I can put my feet up and ENJOY!
