Everything I Write Is Crap 1/31/2005 3:44:22 PM
Ohhh...that most dreaded stage! With every book-length manuscript I’ve ever worked on, I’ve gone through this stage. It’s always an uphill struggle to get through it. Suffering from severe depression like I do, makes it even more difficult. My brain feels like it’s trying to slog through a muddy field, the kind that would suck the boots right off your feet.
Consciously I want to work. I want to complete Late Return but the neurons just don’t want to fire right if at all. This helps to deepen my all ready depressed state.
I find that if I concentrate on small sections of the text, way less than a chapter and sometimes just a problem paragraph, a little miracle takes place. I’m able to produce something. This only works if I don’t push myself for more beyond that mind. Sure, it drags the completion of the project out; but what can I do! It usually takes a complete edit and reprint before the blockage finally breaks apart. I’ve been trying to do just that since December!
I’ll be glad when I’m through this!
