I used to think (in my youthful ignorance) that ‘feeling sexy’ was something that had to come from outside, from people’s responses to looks, fashion, body size etc. In other words, if I got enough compliments I would finally realize I was sexy — though I always felt anything but sexy!
The difficulty there was: no one can make you feel sexy. No single compliment can make us feel sexy if we feel we are un-sexy!
What changed for me was a really great friend. She always dresses sexy, and by that I don’t mean plunging necklines and short skirts, I mean trendy clothes, waist coats, high heeled boots, stylish jeans, with several colors through her gorgeous long hair. I realized that (and yes we are both ’straight’) that her sexiness is her attitude. She is confident within herself, likes who she has become, and is a great and loving person, a terrific friend, and an amazing mother.
Her confidence began to rub off on me! I bought some more stylish jeans, some high heels black boots, some new clothes, put on some make-up, and had to admit: I looked pretty darn great! I felt sexy!
To feel sexy, to be sexy, is something that has to come from within, it cannot come from outside of us.
