Writing goals for 2009
2/3/2009 11:02:05 PM

To sit down with a mug of tea or a coffee and work my arse off!

Strangely enough, you may think that the time I am spending here ‘blogging’ is not really ‘working my arse off’, but I can only make one excuse: it is still school holidays here and I am ‘on call’ with the teenagers. There is, as I am sure you can understand, little point in getting right into some work, only to be dragged off just when I am ‘in the flow’. Besides, school holidays are time for me to have fun with my kids, time for them to know that they come first.

(Blogging is putting down words, therefor, blogging is writing, and it is a place where we all have the opportunity to clarify our thoughts, goals, ambitions.)

School goes back next week, so I until then I am studying other authors’ writing, and thinking about the work ahead of me.

One of the goals I set myself, and achieved over these holidays, was to reorganize the office, and lounge (so I can work in either place), so that the work space was tidy, organised and conducive to focused work. Now every time I sit down there is a sense of pride in the way things have been tidied. Until I achieved that goal there was always a sense of ‘I should have tidied that’, hence a small sense of guilt!

A conducive workspace. A notebook to jot down any ideas (and another for chores I need to do later in the day). A diary to keep me on track with all that I hope to achieve this year. And a desire to grow in all areas of my life. And a commitment to eat a little healthier. Projects under way (writing, studying, and music).

I am ready for 2009! And I am ready to work hard and efficient.

Success in anything is just one step after another, without quitting. Well…I am still walking and I ain’t no quitter.
