Bell South 2/1/2005 9:12:14 PM
"I'd like have a dime for every time Bell screwed up a network connection by doing something completely different." A comment made by my brother Larry who is a Cisco routing engineer. Bell South has to be one of the worst companies on the planet. The lack of intelligent service and monopolistic pricing are bad enough, but when you add automated systems designed by Microsoft rejects you have a real winner. In twelve years, I have had very few dealings go smoothly. In general, this includes pre-mature disconnection and incorrect billing among other things.
I was recently charged $40.88 to move my phone service right next door and assured that for this outrageous fee, switches would be flipped and billing updated. Not even a service man was required to physically come out and do anything. Time of disconnection: 3:00 A.M. Time of connection at the new address: 11:30 A.M. the next day. The problem: A short in the Bell box probably caused by a Bell repairman who was in the neighborhood on the day of disconnection.
What if there was an emergency and I had to call 911 during this thirty-two and a half hour period of transition? To add to this, my “call forwarding busy” feature was changed and people couldn’t get through to me after I finally got the phone working. This company needs to find ways to improve their customer satisfaction index and not just their bottom line.
