The Nerve

A funny (to me) memory

lights on, a/c running (with windows open, mind you), TV on in another room, dishes in the sink, wet towel on the bed and half a glass of Pepsi on the dresser.

This is what I came home to! From the looks and sounds, I thought at least 2 people were in the house. NOPE, not a soul

My daughter was NOT taught to live like this. I had to get after her. When she went off to college, I let her loose. I gave her her birth cert., took her to my GYN for a contraceptive (responsible and realistic mom that I am) my husband didn't like it...daddy's girl. I said she’s not a baby; she’ll be living on her own (so to speak).

Fast Forward: Graduation! Car, (another blog) Good job, apartment- still far away from home.

FF: “Oh when are you and daddy coming down to see me and how I fixed up my apartment?” she says. “How ‘bout next weekend?” FF again: new apt. quick tour, we’re all sweating and she wants to hustle us out. We don’t need to see the sights (we think), we’ve been back and forth for 4 years, we’ve seen everything.

“OK, we’ll do this, and do that, go to this mall, and the new mall, and to eat, then I have to stop off at the Food Lion (yet another blog), then go to Target for candles. I saw her father’s body cave. I turn around and smile to myself and think hahahaha, she got him” Let’s see him tell her no, like he does me.…

OK let’s go. “Wait, I hafta go to the bathroom”, I say. On the way out the door she stops and fiddles with the thermostat and says “Can’t you go to the bathroom without the lights?”

Something is definitely wrong with this picture. THE NERVE OF HER...
