The Debate - Style or Substance... 10/1/2004 12:55:50 PM
John Kerry has wonderful debating skills. Who won last night’s presidential debate? According to the French, John Kerry. Then again, who cares what the French think about American presidential politics. I say John Kerry scored well on style. Yes, I’d even say he outscored the president for stylistic points. Mr. Kerry has served in the U.S. Senate for 20 years and as a senator, has well polished debate skills. Though, like a senate career that has produced no, zero, nada, not a single piece of significant authored legislation, Mr. Kerry’s debate had little substance.
The debate touched several issues, but the greatest focus was on the war in Iraq.
As Commaner in Chief, Mr. Kerry wants to tell our troops to go fight and win “the wrong war.” If the War is wrong Mr. Kerry, have the guts of a true leader and simply pull us out. No substance.
In the debate, Kerry signed off as being against the Bunker Busting Bombs currently deployed as well as those in the planning stage. Apparently, Mr. Kerry thinks the enemy hides behind rocks and not in well secured bunkers. Again, no substance.
In one breath, Mr. Kerry calls Saddam Hussein a threat. At the end of the debate, he declares that he was not. No substance, but a nice flip flop.
The debate served to further reveal Mr. Kerry’s position as a globalist rather than an American. His willingness to put foreign approval ahead of American security was evident through his readiness to turn all U.S. security issues over to the approval of the United Nations. But if you look at the U.N., it is difficult to find anything positive they have ever accomplished with regards to world security. Unlike President Bush, Mr. Kerry fails to understands that the U.N. does not run our foreign policy and can’t. If Mr. Kerry had any substance regarding this topic at all, the substance was pro-United Nation not pro-American.
During the debate, Mr. Kerry failed to resolve any inconsistencies on his position on Iraq. Great style, no substance.
If you want a president who will put the opinions of the world ahead of the concerns of the United States, Kerry is your man. If you want a president who wants to protect the United States, vote for George Bush.
