Sarah Palin accuses Obama of foreign policy gaff
Sarah Palin recently had the gall to criticize President Obama’s nuclear disarmament pact with Russia. This from a woman who when asked what about her foreign policy credentials said, “I can see Russia from my house.”
Palin showed up in Minneapolis last week with a fleet of busses to solicit campaign money for fellow Fox News employee Michelle Bachmann, who’s running for re-election in the 6th District, facing a hard charge from the assistant senate majority leader, Taryl Clark. There wasn’t enough brain power on that stage to light a 25 watt light bulb, and not much more in the audience of 11,000 who seem to follow Bachmann everywhere she goes.
Somehow Palin is still a viable candidate for the Republican nomination despite the fact that SHE QUIT HER JOB as governor of Alaska, excusing her decision by saying she doesn’t go with the flow. Actually Palin is cashing in on her fifteen minutes of fame, cynically given to her by 2008 Republican nominee John McCain who gave in to the demands of the Karl Rove element when he agreed to support her nomination. Palin signed a book contract for a five million dollar advance, then spent a couple of months huddled with a conservative ghost writer, who actually did the grunt work. No big surprise since she uses her palm as a teleprompter and seems to be proud of it. Embarrassment upon embarrassment follows the woman. Before her new show on Fox, it was revealed that one of the interviews was with LL Cool J. It was news to the former rapper. Fox planned to use a previous interview and pretend Palin was the interviewer. Where is the phony detector with those eleven thousand people who were at that fund raiser? Are they single-issue voters? Is it a religion thing?
Let’s talk about that for a moment. Just exactly where does Palin stand in respect to religion? We know she leaves it in God’s hands to decide if she’ll run for president. But just what exactly does she believe? Is she one of those who believe that we’re in the End Times? Is she another James Watt, former secretary of the Interior under Ronald Reagan, who was willing to sacrifice the nation’s resources because The Rapture was just around the corner? Is it true that this woman once underwent an exorcism performed by an African witch doctor? Is it true that she thought Africa was a country? Does she believe the dinosaurs and cavemen existed at the same time?
Let’s get back to those eleven thousand supporters. How many of them are thinking about voting against themselves? How many draw unemployment? There wouldn’t be any unemployment without the democrats. How many of them belong to a union? There wouldn’t be any unions without the democrats. How many work for minimum wage or draw workman’s compensation? Ditto. How many are on Medicare or Medicaid? How many went to school under the GI Bill? How many are on social security? All democratic programs. Social security is probably the greatest legislation ever passed by Congress (Raise the cap if you want to insure it will still be there when you retire and pay back the two trillion the government owes the program. Republicans will fight it every inch of the way.). Remember President George W. Bush tried to privatize Social Security? Most of us lost money on our IRAs and mutual funds, thanks to that deregulation thing. And they’re at it again, still trading in commodities and derivatives and gambling in the Bucket Shops, legalized by Bill Clinton of all people.
Perhaps the craziest thing Palin has ever said was when she insisted that the only way Obama could get reelected was to attack Iran. And there’s the rub. How many out there think that we would be more likely to attack Iran under Palin or Obama? That’s what conservatives do when they’re in power, attack little countries when voters notice that they’re not governing. It’s called wagging the dog. George W. Bush’s biggest idea during the first six months of his administration was Ronald Reagon’s dumbest idea, Star Wars. When warned by his own terrorism expert, Richard E. Clarke, that Al Qaeda was planning an attack, Clark was ignored. So were the Minneapolis FBI agents who had a man in custody who’d been taking lessons learning how to fly a 747, only he wasn’t interested in learning how to take off or land. Their requests for a search warrant were denied.
There’s no question that Sarah Palin would be a puppet president; she’s not smart enough to run a hotdog stand (See the 1200+ e-mails she sent her husband regarding state appointments). But who would be the power behind the scenes? Probably some old bull like Cheney, maybe even Darth himself. Republicans ought to think twice, though. Remember that concession speech, when she thought she should be giving one, too? That was probably John McCain’s finest moment. He calmed the crazy teabagger lady who thought Obama was a Moslem, and he assured everyone that the new president was not a socialist. Unfortunately it’s been downhill ever since and he had to call in Palin to campaign for him against a former talk show host. Oh, the humiliation.
