Piers Morgan Deserves a Medal

Gun enthusiasts are demanding the head of CNN
commentator, Piers Morgan.
Last week it was little kids, this week it’s firemen. Sixty-two year old William Spengler set a trap for Webster, New York firemen by setting fire to a house and a car. Two firemen were killed and two were injured. Spengler served 17 years for manslaughter in the death of his grandmother. After the ambush he shot himself in the head. Don’t firemen risk their lives enough, without this sort of thing to worry about? Remember 9-11? They marched right up into those towers knowing they most likely weren’t coming back down.
Can you think of a better argument to reduce the easy access to guns? This guy was a felon. They’re not supposed to own a gun.
On another issue, gun fetishers want the head of CNN commentator Piers Morgan for his disdain for The Second Amendment. Moran interviewed Larry Pratt, director of Gun Owners of America, and when Pratt tried to defend further proliferation of guns, Moran said “You’re an incredibly stupid man.” This provoked petitions demanding Morgan’s deportation. So far 44,000 people have signed. Not too surprising after the secession kafuffle after Obama’s relection. Probably the same people.
I’m not of big fan of Piers Morgan’s, not even when he was on America’s Got Talent, but somebody’s got to say it. It just doesn’t make any sense for Americans to run out and buy a gun every time it looks like the government is finally going to do something about the 30,000 gun deaths each year due to suicide, accident, and murder. What’s most galling is that the NRA and this Gun Owners group seem to care more about playing with dangerous toys than they do about innocent bystanders. The dead are mere collateral damage to them.
And they’re still spouting their asinine slogan: “Guns don’t kill people, people do.” Sure they do, but they’re not going to be able to hit a target from a thousand yards away like the Washington D.C. snipers without a gun and a scope. One of the things I like about the movie “The Deerhunter” is that Robert DeNiro would only take one shot at a deer. If he missed, no deer that year. When he came back from Vietnam, he couldn’t even take the one shot. Scopes are just not fair. If you use one, somebody should paint you yellow.
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar and others are asking the immediate banning of multiple bullet clips. Other senators want the assault weapon ban reinstated.
I’d like the see a month long moratorium on the sale of guns period as a memorial to the children of Newtown and the fire fighters. Maybe that’ll give people time to think about what they‘ve been doing.
