After all, both men went through hell to be stars in their professions and they came from entirely different backgrounds. Minnie [a.k.a. Orestes], for example, used to pick sugar cane in fields under a Castro Cuba as a kid and was given one pair of pants to wear each week; Santo, on the other hand - a diabetic - was the premier third baseman in the National League of his era. In fact, he once hit a game-winning home run in LA that he doesn't even remember because he had not received his shot of insulin. Talk about courage and belief in THE GAME!
