They've already put a scalet 'S' for steroid use on his forehead without a single, substantiated f-a-c-t to back their 'insinuations'. Thus far the only 'proof' I've heard he's ever used them is from the testimony of an ex-girlfriend. [Gee, I bet most ex's would be very supportive of their former lovers. I wonder what these guys are bucking for? A job as a writer for THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER when they get too old to be on TV or are they hoping to write soaps some day?]
Now if these 'journalists' [a.k.a 'electronic alarmists'] ever come up with any hard evidence, I'll most certainly listen.
Meanwhile, this degreed journalist [Northern Ill. U./1974] can tell you that thus far these are the actual facts:
- the man is closing in on the all-time, major league home run mark of 755 career shots and is forty,
- the man who holds the mark ["Hammerin' Hank" Aaron] supports Bonds
- Bonds is trying to recover from a third knee operation. [Psst - for those of you who don't know - ripped-up knees have ended the career of many an athlete. Just do a search on 'football' and look up 'Gale Sayers' sometime.]
- his dad, Bobby, a star player himself in San Francisco, California, prematurely died. [I wonder if some TV journalist might ever ask a Barbara Walters-type question sometime such as: "Would you trade all your fame just to have your father back with you?" I'd bet he'd answer that, and I think I already know what he'd say.]
- Of course, these wire monkeys would probably blame his 'bizarre' answer on that to something like sniffing cocaine or - hey - maybe sniffing the mud the umpires use to rub the baseballs before each game.]
- final fact: around 70 % of Americans polled believe he indeed has used steroids. [Hey, in the US it's become you're guilty until proven innocent, y'know.]
Well, the wire monkeys are hanging Michael Jackson, too, before all the facts are at hand and had tried to do the same to Robert Blake. [Blake was declared by a jury as being innocent in the killing of his wife, by the way.]
