Blair in England still doesn't seem to get it. Will Bush?
George II is on the verge of creating an even WORSE national deficit than Reagan [who left the USA in debt at a reported $532 billion in 1988 according to Webster's New World Encyclopedia] which later helped cost George I the Presidency and which womanizer Bill Clinton somehow managed to turn around into a financial surplus!
And - no - he didn't increase taxes 50% [like some Republicans would like to claim - of course, leaving out the part that it only happened to two guys who made it big in the casinos in Vegas one night and put themselves in a much higher tax bracket.] William Jefferson just made certain the wealthy were taxed appropriately. Like John Kerry said he will do - while NOT increasing taxes among everyone else - whereas George II said he will go so far as to make a tax cut for the wealthy PERMAMENT.
And, no, that's not the 'liberal' media speaking. Those are the words of George Dubya, his very own self.]
Iraq was our 'friend' during the Reagan years and days of the Iran-Contra Affair [which the President admirably took full responsibility for, by the way, saying he should because it was on his watch - unlike a certain predecessor of his we now know] and that may be why George I pulled back in 1991, in effect double-crossing Hussein detractors who were subsequently executed, many of whom were dropped into these mass graves we keep hearing about. Should he have gone for the jugular then? Oh yeah. The UN was actually behind us back then - even France! [But then again - in all fairness - the elder Bush had actually fought in a war and knew what servicemen must endure. Those who have not are something like having a diehard fan coach your football team instead of a back-up lineman who had to do everything imaginable to stay on a team through guts, determination and know-how during his playing days.]
As for help in Iraq? England will soon be a shaky ally at best once Blair - whose name is now being spelled 'Bliar' in the UK - is voted out. What happened to his party yesterday in non-so Merry Old England was a 'wake up' call by his constituency to say the least.
Kerry will enlist the help of France, Germany, Spain and others - as soon as he makes it clear to the United Nations that the USA won't be calling all the shots anymore. George II has been leaning that way but I guess he figures he will eventually get what he insists upon. [However, I predict it to be yet another case of poor judgement on his part.]
The Iraq 'democracy' won't last, of course. After all, to truly appreciate freedom you must be willing to fight for it yourself. Oh well. At least all those terrorists left untouched across the world are happy - especially after all the time they have had to plan and regroup.
