We may have a little spring after all This past winter has been one that just would not go away, cats, dogs, humans, students in my class, we have shivered our way through record setting temps, ice and snow.
March 21 came, shivering its way into our days.
Each year Osage County First Grade makes Lions and Lambs to celebrate In like a lion, out .... you know the rhyme.
Lions faced the hall for days while the little lambs languished with their faces to the wall.
March gave way to April, Daffodils appeared as did Crocus, and yet we shivered. A determined little stalwart or two came to school wearing coat, long pants and flip flops.
And April struggled into May, we trudged out to the First Grade garden to see our Iris, they were particularly lovely this year, huge, lovely blossoms. Perhaps they were invigorated by all the ice and snow and cold; personally I hold out that they were startled into realization that if they didn't make a showing we might want to dig them up!
The last week of school found us still wearing long pants, light jackets and wondering if spring would ever appear.
Today I saw Canadian Geese families out in a near by pasture, goslings were running all over the place.
Spring, it really is here!
Roses are blooming, the Morning Glories are climbing the trellis at school, and mine here in the yard have begun to appear as green valentine leaves hugging the ground.
Spring, spring! it really is here!
Turtles are in the yard, the mulberry trees are dropping fruit all over the place and little lipstick mouth turtles take a break from eating mulberries to come to the porch to munch dog and cat kibble.
