Sometimes, even when you make it--you haven't made it. And a special thanks to you, the reader! Remember months ago that I promised to be better about being here? Well, after a summer in which I did nothing but cry and sleep due to the most agonizing ailment I can imagine--shingles--I'm back.
No promises this time, though.
I truly appreciate readers--without them, we writers are nothing. When start-up traditional publisher Crimson Romance released my debut novel last March, I truly thought I'd 'made' it! Readers could find my work, published and promoted, while I went on to subsequent works. What I'd aimed for all my life, to share my stories, had become reality.
And to an extent, that's true. The irony is, as some of my best-selling friends like Jean Brashear and Delores Fossen have warned--it gets harder, not easier.
My second CR title, Take Me Out, is an anthology. Three other writers and I share a little baseball romance, just in time for the World Series. Thought sure that would interest my local newspaper/news media--I mean, the anthology is being featured in USA Today on October 30th.
But no--no homefront notice, other than what I get from my FB and social media friends. So I'm going to try that old trick-em gambit and announce my news in a letter to the editor. Don't think they'll print it, but a girl can dream.
And if they don't--I've still made it, in my own eyes. Three works (Wildflower Redemption will be published Dec. 9th) in 9 months with a traditional publisher.
And best news of all--I took my last pain killer for those danged shingles two weeks ago. May to September, I wasn't sure I'd live until October, let alone December.
So it's all good, and thanks to all of you who invest your time and emotion in an author's works. We appreciate you.
