The First Fifty Things You Need to Know if You Are Having an Operation I'm starting the new year with a new project - an organized outline for you of a method for approaching a big operation. As you have read in my other blogs, there are some major challenges facing surgical patients today, not the least of which is the fact that not all surgeons are good at doing all of the available operations that patients want done. I'm approaching the vital information you'll need from the point of view of, you, the patient: what do I need to know about my operation and about my surgeon and when do I need to know it?
These logical question are the ones you should be asking of yourself and of your surgeon. Of course, some surgeons don't want to be challenged by patients. Although it's old school to expect patients to just do what they're told, some surgeons still are lousy communicators when it comes to answering reasonable but difficult questions. The 50 questions will take you from the first consultation to the powerful stride you take as you resume your life after a major procedure.
