I have a secret garden
Hidden deep
Inside me
Nobody can see it
For I don’t let prying eyes see it
I cover it well with a mask
Of indifference
Of aloofness
Of overwhelming shyness
I knew my secret garden
Since I was a child
It’s full of light and joy
And blooming flowers
And cheerful butterflies
It’s full of love, overflowing love
It stood in powerful storms
Of loss and grief
Of betrayals
Of envy and jealousy
But my hidden garden is still there
Inside of me
Overflowing with love.

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
