Too Young

This was written by my daughter Jessica soon after her grandmother had passed away. Jessica was nine years old at the time.


Too Young

She just turned fifty-one
Seven months before.
She left us her good memories,
So we are rich, not poor.

She left behind three beautiful kids,
Gaila, Penny, and Joe.
She left behind her husband, Gale,
Who loved her very much so.

She lived to see two grandchildren
Grow to be eight and nine.
She lived to see Jessie and Jackie,
But Aaron was not born at that time.

On the day that she died,
My mother walked into the room.
She did not cry at this time
And I thought that she would soon.

On the day of her funeral,
I sat on Mom's lap and cried.
But still she did not shed a tear.
Not one fell from her eyes.

I still remember those final words
That rolled off the preacher's tongue,
"This beautiful woman, Bonnie Jay,
died too young."
