One summer day while fishing, tired from casting to the stream,
I dozed off on the riverbank and I began to dream.
I dreamed that I was praying in a field beneath the sun,
I asked the Lord to please forgive me for some sin that I had done.
When I had finished praying I was much surprised to see,
That now there was another man standing there with me.
He said “I heard you praying and that’s very good to do,
But I really think I need to have a little talk with you”.
“I know that you believe in me and I think that you should know,
Just what it was I did for you so very long ago”.
“If you read in your bible then I think that you will see,
That I said that it was “finished” when I died there on that tree”.
“You’ve accepted what I did back then, and I’d think that that would do,
Or should I die upon that cross again just for you “?
I asked him then what should I say at times when I have sinned,
He said “ Just say I’m sorry Lord, then don’t do it again.
I wanted to say more to him but I didn’t have the time
For just then I was awakened by a tug upon my line,
With the dream still vivid in my mind I watched the river flow.
As I thanked him for forgiving me so very long ago.
