Looking at the sunrise
Like so many in the past
I wonder would I see it differently,
If I knew it was my last?

Would I savor every moment,
As the colors fill the sky?
Would I take this memory with me,
As I bid this world goodbye?

Once my name has been carved deep in stone
And all the tears been cried
I feel I'll still enjoy each sunrise
Only from the other side.

This is beautiful and sad Jack. Touched me deeply.
Let's hope and believe that we can still see the sunrise from the other side.

Thought provoking poem Jack, when I start to consider my own mortality it makes me think of the things I find beauty in, and wonder what Heaven will be like. No tears or sadness is promised, which indicates a lack of memory of earthly things and values. Jackie <> <

You got me thinking Jack. My religious teaching is that there is no 'night' in heaven; therefore, no sunrise or sunset . . . which surely would be missed if we remember either on the other side. Beautiful flow of words and visual imagery.

Ah . . . don't know if I'd be sitting and watching a sunrise if I knew . . . well you know. I'd most likely be somewhere trying foolishly maybe to relive some of the "good" times. Then again, watching a sunrise might just be the thing because I know I'd never be able to recapture those "good" times. Very well written poem, sir.

Yes we would all look at things differently if we knew it was going to be our last. But then maybe we should try and look at everything as thought it will be our last so that we would learn to admire the things we in a new light. Great write Jack! I think you've made me think. Lisa

Aaawww...this is sad. But I really like the rhyme scheme and the message. It reminds me of one that I posted on my page, "For the Last Time." You might like it. This is poignant and true. Good job and thanks for sharing!

Karma Bank to Following By Listening by Chiemi

These song lyrics and art are tales, tides and twinkling lights - tunes telling stories of warmth and sun, city and sand, paths that lead, and the coins we can keep in the Karma Bank. Spirit's been bypassed for sorrow, dreaming of a better tomorrow .
