Transcendental Sonnet #1236:
Live Not the Lie As Legends Die
for poets who are better than me and know it
I am not a living legend
I am a dying fool
But I come to an honest end
And kids say I am cool
Ego is the death of the soul
Arrogance chills hearts numb
In brokenness I am made whole
Though deaf and blind and dumb
Yet I can hear you clearly
And I do love you dearly
But I can very nearly
See right through you
How about you?
Live not the lie as legends die
