Large round of applause well deserved here. Even a standing ovation is not out of line. This poem says so much and expreses the feelings of so many. Great work old friend.
I read this as a reflection on lost love -- "We have no more to say / Your eye avoids my eye" -- and an affirmation that ultimately, each of us has only our own wondrous self to rely upon. Yet we flourish best when we seek and receive the support of others. It's a tricky balance.
OMG Steven, "To dream and to be: Free." For sure. I cry for freedom all the time, freedom to be free of these shackles of the past, that keep me bound and haunted. I am getting there tho, I think. With encouragement and advice from my family here, my friends, and my other online contacts, I getting rid of the shcakles, but the hauntings of my past are still there.
I do dream to be: free. I dream of being complete in body and soul. I dream of a man who will love me for me, and not just carnal desire. I dream that one day my sisters will accept me as their big sister. I dream to be: free.
