Trying to leave time for eternity
He wound up psychiatrically jailed
But his house was auctioned from under me
His computer quit my telephone failed
I wonder when I think of what was lost
He wonders who will come to take my place
Which nothing less than everything has cost
The local eccentric in time and space
Has the hospital let him out too soon
To execute his exit now with grace?
If so may he carry me passively
Resistant to reason wrapped by the moon
Of this his madness my reality
To carry out the sentence so to say
Of a crazy old fool in denial
Smack in the dab of his hour of trial
Nobody meant for this to end this way
What would be better? Is there something more
Than what has ground us down to merely this?
Why do we live? What are we dying for
Now that we have lived both the curse and kiss
Of this our madness our reality?
