Transcendental Sonnet #1444: As Voices Multiply The art of poetry possesses the ability To communicate community among other things By writing and reading our needing to be understood As a bird up in a tree which when solitary sings And is sung to in return then as voices multiply Words like these from the trees as solitary birds with words Each from our tree communicate our words with other birds To find that we are not so solitary in the sky That poetry is solitary in community And that it does what it does the way no other art could As we sing and are sung to by some other birds nearby To communicate community among other things As a bird up in a tree which when solitary sings And is sung to in return then as voices multiply +Steven Curtis Lance Copyright MMXI
