I. How They Said

My children's parents had colorful grandmas
I would say the way one and the other one was
Eccentric egocentric problematic

Though with a sense of humor ever ready to
Stand in solidarity to steady who
Needed it leaning on the meaning in between

Up all night to be all right who took good care
Of us understood right by having been right there
Not for their didactic more dogmatic parts

That spark though the dark of their love of family
Now though they are dead lives how they said in our hearts

II. Honey Bee

Funny thing about us homo sapiens as we
Apes of an apian and dizzying industry
Get better by forgetting and by forgiving who
Evolve a bit revolving if only fitfully
And must do just because we are beings who must do:

We get busy for the money like the honey bee
Living paycheck to paycheck then checking back next week
Again but then again keeping busy so to speak
Always improving though never moving anywhere
But upward hypothetically into thin air

But to be a bee is but a metaphor for who
Find they are and mindful being find what they must do
With all their might do right to fight for if they must too
And they are us evolving if only fitfully
Dizzy for the money like the busy honey bee

III. Sun Song

Tan my tummy bronze my belly make me one with you O sun
Let December yet remember one who has not yet begun
Coming late but coming when becoming how I come to be

Let me live forgiving now come then O sun and shine on me
Let December yet remember one to get it nor forget
Ember inextinguishable spark my dark beyond regret

As dum spiro spero hopefully I breathe reality
Through my skin into within the universe inside of who
Never thought whatever brought forever now then how it does

Tested by myself self-bested overthinking as I do
When it seemed too simple then outsmarting myself as I was
Hard for me to see reality as it was just because

Warm my heart to be a part of you O sun at one with you
Get me up and shake me from the cold of my complacency
Take me make me one who has begun to be one who is free!
