I. The Wintering Lion

When I wake up in the morning without warning
In pain insane then I get high so I get by
And so it is again I begin this morning
Determined now to live somehow before I die

I rise to my surprise to smile awhile before
Giving up my living up by living up to
My dreams it seems by giving living all the more
Giving forgiving getting by forgetting too
Remembering who loves me I remember you
With your love above all between either and or
As the meaning between us to mean what I do

Unsure as it were about afterward with doubt
And faith on the outs when what it seems all about
Is not my dreams it seems but my reality
As good as any then I get up and let out
A roar as before the wintering lion sees
Entering winter on his own but not alone
Above it all the love of all his friends like these

Like you in fact who keep intact his sanity
Such as it is by love as much as anything
Above all the futility and vanity
Of it all after all beyond the suffering

Still by love the lion lives to love and always will
Merlot marijuana and the Laughing Daffodil

II. Saturday Anyway

Good Friday was an existential day
Of days in its own quintessential way
Unbecoming but Easter is coming
Not a moment too soon now and somehow
Though once I loved its unbecoming mien
Of dark I have seen some light come between

At first they were stars I thought but were not
Were some unanswered questions I forgot

Remembered inconveniently and when
The same unquestioned answers came to mean
Many things if anything becoming
Living for dying or trying to then
Allowing daylight in on magic now
Forgiving but not going back again

And soon if not Holy Saturday
It will be Saturday anyway

III. Set to Rise

One must set to rise again
Set to rise through in between
The sun knows what I mean
Setting out there like me
Pixelated through the screen
There goes another one

To rise again and be
Tomorrow while today I
Who get but precious few
Moments in the sky then
Borrow a few to get through
Getting through getting it done

Tomorrow to borrow sun
Getting on getting it too
As I am and as I do
Where day with night between
Is the way there then again
There is here and now is when

Setting out there like me
Pixelated through the screen
But to rise again and be
The sun knows what I mean
Set to rise through in between
One must set to rise again
