for the Laughing Daffodil
Only the lonely bones within the skin
Paperwhite narcissus paper thin
Having gotten up somehow getting down
Out in the desert now getting brown
The rising and the falling of the chest
Like empires east and west like the rest
And in the end what does anything mean?
Only the moments lonely between
Here I am now no matter what I do
Where nothing means something without you
But I think about you and there you
Are (what I think I like best about you)
In the presence of absence I find
The Daffodil is laughing in my mind
Never far away though far apart
The Daffodil is blooming in my heart
