The dogs are pretending to fight each other
Sister brother friends who bite each other
In slow motion their devotion to detail
Acted out from tip of snout to tip of tail
Shadowboxing and sparring
Getting it and getting along
Through their canine shadow play
With a will and a skill so strong
That I envy them as they
Shake the ground and it is jarring
But they practice every day
In the desert in the dog star
Their canine choreography this way
Lifetime dancing partners as they are
Out of instinct into the distinction of
Something the lonely can only see as love
Sister brother one to one another
Reconciled but I am still an only child
Unlike me they have someone no matter what
Marisol and Bowser are so fortunate
