I

I wait for it to get light
For it not to be night
Anymore get ready for
A day not to forget
This is it not over yet

To get ready for more
I got through the night today
To wonders underway
To either understand or
To wonder anyway

Here I am now to explore
How to be more somehow
Than I ever was before
Here I am now to be
Another day more of me

Ready for my chance
To be Steven Curtis Lance

II

There we were and here she was
Under the tree of life because
Being human beings who
Were doing as we humans do
Here she was where I was too

When life surprised me like it does
There in 1970
Like here where I remember now
A long time ago I know
But I remember even so

Wherever she is now we were
By heart then and then again
Part of my heart again now when
Between us two I mean to
Remember the tree of life then

In December when the tree
Is barren but still sings of her
Even now of spring somehow
Remembers I still love you
Between us what you mean to me

III

It might be just me
But tonight I can see
A question mark in the sky

A constellation
Starbright punctuation
Of wondering how and why

Connecting the dots
Of the whats and whatnots
Tonight of todays gone by

It seems like love is
The meaning of all this
Between us to live who die

Understanding love
By wonder two parts of
The answer as you and I

Two parts of the whole
Through the heart to the soul
Answering questioning sky
