Seasonally

On the first day of winter up here
Or the first day of summer down under
Where it is already tomorrow
Instead there and so they already know

Something becomes increasingly clear
To me that at either end we wonder
About but neither of us can see
What a change of season may bring to be

Maybe a reason to hope again
That it will be better than it has been
And may I be transcendentally
In the end at this end where I wonder

On the first day of winter up here
Or the first day of summer down under
By our solar bipolarity
The first day of something new anyway

As many have been to now from then
But among many this is the first day
Of the rest of it whatever it
May be for maybe the best of it yet

For all I know when either today
Or tomorrow all I know is to stay
All the way to the end of this play
That in the end transcends reality

From either end of it we can see
Some reasons for hope come seasonally
Having been then we know to be now
When this is it how life goes on somehow

Certainly another way to look at the seasons. Down under is completely opposite from up yonder, and rightly so.

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
