Between Us

To see from the inside out of my head
Is to see from the outside in
Look back through a crack in society
I fell through to be here instead
Of not to be if I have got to be

Through a lot to have gotten to
Be and to do who and what to see through
Eyes that have seen where I have been

What I have seen in the eyes of the dead
Sadder but wiser to come true
In my eyes for now for having been then
Having seen in the in between
Of life and death between them what to do
When this is it and now is when

For better or worse the universe said
To realize I had to be
Mad to be able to see what I see

But I do so I can tell you
Between us to know you know what I mean
When I show you what I have seen
Glad though I had to be mad to be me
Glad to be and glad you are too

I certainly wouldn't want to get between her and you, so I will bow out of this poem for now.

Your sincere words always touch my heart. "Eyes that have seen where I have been". I embrace these words, Steven. I embrace this poem.

Love ya!

Well, I'm glad to have been where I have been
and to have seen what I have seen
through my own eyes - from the inside and out -
knowing what I know now and didn't know then,
I am glad to arrive at where I am today to
know who and what I have become.
