Not Over Yet

for my father on Memorial Day

Sent you went to do what you were meant to
But it meant something what you went through
If I look closely I can see the scars
Of all of the scars that are unseen

But if I look closer I see the stars
Of all of the worlds of us between
The hope of the universe hanging on
To what though forgotten is not gone

A little something from the other side
To be or not to see to decide
To be after all for my having seen
For having been along for the ride

From the side where you are alive again
This is the meaning I think you mean
When it gets meaningless not to forget
Our this is it is not over yet

Your words show a determination to beat all, Steven! I believe you will be "along for the ride" once again on "the side where you are alive again"! What hope!

Love ya!

Looks just like my uncle after he returned the 101st Airborne in World War II. Unfortunately, after divorcing his first wife and having three kids with his second, the oldest, 11, when he took off with a barmaid for the rest of his life. It wasn't over yet, when he was found over 10 years after his death with a different identity and hiding out in Boise, Idaho. I certainly would like to meet him on the other side and asked him why he left his five kids from two marriages.

Maybe you have some of the same questions for your father?

It's not over yet. We will see our loved ones again. I have more on the other side than this side.
