Omen

So here I am to be somehow
Not as I was but as I am for
Surviving then arriving now
Going on knowing more than before

To be or not but either way
What I learned the hard way coming through
Mistaken then makes me come true
With what it takes to now if I do

I used to be indifferent
Neither more nor less than either or
But then I had forgotten how
I got here and forgot what it meant

Born at night with a lightning flash
And with a frightening thunder crash
One to make everyone wonder
My mother spoke my name to the sky

No doubt about it then that I
Was sent by the lightning and thunder
Meant as an omen good or bad
Of insight that might make me go mad

Though I went on to anyway
For now is how I might as well be
New Year's Eve 1954
Haunting me wanting me to be more

Having understood now that it
Might not be right for me not to stay
Maybe I could get good at it
Having understood how finally

It took a lifetime but I see
Looking back at that omen of me

An "omen" no doubt, Steven! You have an understanding along with great intelligence. It's all good anyway. We just need to get through this.

Love ya!
