Mystery of History

Things become contentious
When people become tendentious
That is to say tending
To bend the world through a worldview
Fists may insist upon

Then people become pretentious
Ending up pretending
Things must be just the way they see
Ending up intending
To bend everything to agree

A view enforced as true
Until the tendency is gone
That may be genetic
Maybe rooted in the psyche
But can get frenetic

Splenetic rather than find out
There can be any doubt
Or mystery of history
To know about but one
To go on about on and on

But I hope to be open to
See whatever may be
Coming true mysteriously
Historically through
The haze of these tendentious days

Not to be forced into
Forced perspective enforced in ways
That horrified the past
Now glorified tendentiously
But I say not so fast

The conscience of my consciousness
Knows better than to lie
About what is no more nor less
How people live or die
Ending up at last transcending

Being godly oddly
Seeing the godly ungodly
Forgetful nowadays
Of twists and turns of history
A mystery to me

Here comes what fear is afraid of
Someone made unafraid by love

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
